Description

Helios 44-2 58mm T2.1 (F2) is a legendary lens, but it’s about to get even better!

Our goal was to bring out the best in this lens but addressing the mechanical quirks and limitations of the original body that make it unsuitable for professional, high pressure work environments where everything must perform at 100%.

By creating a new housing for this much loved lens, with improved its usability for video production considerably. Gone is the confusing preset aperture control, unreliable M42 screw mount and its wobbly body. Instead we now have a rugged, well designed and carefully assembled body that provides plenty of useful features, like integrated follow focus gears, permanent PL or EF mount, expanded focus distance markings, which can now be made imperial as well as metric, plus many more that you can learn about below.

Please note, if you are planning to use these lenses with 35mm film cameras such as Aanton 235/535, Arri 235/435/535, etc, then you will need a replacement iris ring to get enough clearance above the mirror chamber. We can provide these replacement rings free of charge or install them when assembling your order, so please let us know if you need them once your order has been made.

Our warranty covers all parts and labor associated with fixing any issues related to the housing and mechanics of the lens. It does not cover damage or age-related deterioration of the optics themselves. It also does not cover accidental damage or damage from misuse.

    We are happy to announce that the legendary Helios 40-2 85mm T1.6 is joining the MKII line-up.

    Due to multiple requests, we are opening pre-orders for clients who want to send in their own donor optics. We will only charge for the rehousing and it’s up to the client to source the optics. You will need to send your optics about 1 month before your lens is due to be assembled, so you have 6+ months to source it. Any version of Helios 40 / 40-2 is suitable for this rehousing.
